Marlene Desjardins, PhD, is a licensed school psychologist who works at The Montreal Fluency Centre, a not-for-profit centre offering speech, language, learning, and literacy services. A significant part of her time is spent doing psycho-educational assessments. Marlene brings to her assessment work a strong desire to help students and their parents/guardians understand the student’s learning profile and use this understanding to help the student achieve their full potential. To do this, Marlene draws from theory and research on assessment and report writing.
In addition to doing psycho-educational assessments and consulting around learning issues, Marlene also directs the Taylor Adolescent Program (TAP). TAP is an after- school intervention for middle-school and high-school students who have learning disorders. Here, her knowledge of assessment helps with providing appropriate intervention to students with identified learning disorders as well as monitoring their progress in the program.
